Press Release Body: New York, N.Y.-April 2008

Tamara Johnson, a licensed Marriage and Family therapist who works with hundreds of
women and couples in her private practice, observes that women in particular seem to
carry the wounds from their life experiences in such a way that they repeat patterns
of belief and behavior that limits their potential in every aspect of their lives.
In Pull Yourself OUT of the Mud, she teaches women how to break these
self-destructive emotional patterns and shows them how to regain their footing and
embrace their own self-worth through an interactive journey of self-discovery and
healing.

Johnson says that many women have lost site of the truths they knew in their
childhood-how to love deeply and without fear, how to dream, and how to live fully
and with joy. She says regardless of a woman's circumstances, whether childhood
sexual abuse, domestic violence, infertility issues, or dealing with everyday
stress, it is possible to rekindle the spirit of these hope and dreams in order to
lead an emotionally fulfilling life. Here she examines the unique social and
emotional training women receive that perpetuates the problems related to how they
lose their footing toward becoming confident powerful individuals. Using stories,
examples and exercises in every chapter, Johnson invites women to use their own
personal experiences to walk through the same developmental growth process she uses
in her therapy sessions so they can learn to embrace who they truly are and what
they are entitled to.

In Pull Yourself OUT of the Mud, Tamara Johnson explains:
 How the socialization of girls to accept culturally defined standards of
behavior and appearance costs them emotionally;
 How muddy thinking patterns that women adopt as part of their everyday
behavior limits their ability to interact effectively in relationships;
 Why many women want to make life more comfortable for the significant
people in their lives while putting their own needs on the back burner;

She then shows how women can learn to avoid self-sacrifice, embrace personal
responsibility and develop self-nurturing behaviors in order to cultivate a healthy
emotional, mental, physical and spiritual balance and teaches them to deal with the
obstacles, challenges and risks that come with the emotional journey towards
becoming confident powerful individuals.

A book for any woman with the desire to recapture her dreams and overcome the
self-imposed limitations affecting her life, Tamara Johnson will show her how to
lead a life that is more fulfilling than she ever thought possible.

"Pull Yourself Out of the Mud will give a hand-up to women who have lost their
footing, reminding them of who they really are, of the dreams that once inspired
them, and how to say 'Yes!' to life-this time their own life. A warm and wonderful
gift to give yourself, your daughter, or your friend."
―Carol Lynn Pearson, author of Goodbye, I Love You

"Pull Yourself Out of the Mud brings to light the many subtle ways in which women
under-value themselves and their needs. Tamara gives us inspiration that small
changes in our own behavior can help us to realize our own needs, thereby enriching
our entire family.
